NH Artichokes,
January 19, 2008 Submitted byJustin from Candia, NH
"I live in southern NH and I was able to get 2-3 Artichokes out of these plants on the first year. I had to start them early, but I Was told it could not be done in our short growing season. I have moved the roots inside for the winter and cannot wait to see the yeild this summer."

No way! I grew these in OHIO!,
November 2, 2007 Submitted byLakeErieGarden from Lorain, OH
"I have tried this before, buying the plants at a local nursery. They never ever made it. I thought "what the heck" and planted indoors from seed. Got it into the garden about mid-may. I actually produced real artichokes that I ate by end of summer! They were great. I mean it was the coolest thing I have ever done in my garden. I let one turn to seed and they are really cool then and if I had the climate, see why people would keep these as a perennial shrub. I actually did this in a container and have now moved it indoors for the winter. I'll see how it does."

"I was looking forward to growing my own artichokes and have never been so disappointed in my life. Not one single seed from the packet sprouted . I live in south Louisiana and should have had no trouble growing these."

"Planted indoors from seed then in ground in May. Produced many small but tasty fruits(?) from august thru oct. on nov 24 i was mulching the garden when i brushed the still green lush foilage when i discovered another large choke which was promptly steamed and devoured. i was really surprised by the lush foilage and amount of chokes considereing we had a very hot and dry summer on the east coast. as i am writing this it is new years day and the foilage is still green although we did have a hard frost a few weeks ago. i am going to try and mulch it heavily to winter over."
