"I grew this variety for the first time this year. The plants grew like crazy without a lot of attention from me. Except for the first week or so after transplanting into the garden, I did not water them (but for most of the growing season, rain was adequate) To determine when to pick them, I basically listened for the "hollow" sound when tapping them. In general, I sort of like watermelon, but these I enjoy tremendously. With the dark green outside rind, the pretty red flesh, the black seeds and the inside white rind, this is an attractive melon. And best of all is the taste: sweet and deeeeeeeeelicious! The only thing I can add is that if your garden space is limited, you may want to try the bush variety of this tasty melon!"
