Tomato Burpee's Big Boy Hybrid - 1 Pkt. (30 seeds)

"When we introduced this hybrid tomato in 1949, its incredible productivity and gorgeous, perfect, large scarlet fruit made it an instant hit. What's kept it ahead of the pack all these years is its wonderful aroma and rich flavor. Fruits average 10 ounces with many reaching 1 pound or more! Healthy, indeterminate vines produce all summer long. The bountiful harvest begins about 78 days after setting plants in the garden. Burpee Bred. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your normal planting time.
Indeterminate

"I don't know why this is still grown. It is a very productive and nice looking tomato but the flavor is so bland, kind of mealy. Hey, if you are in to hybrids, try the Celebrity or the Better Boy which has tons more flavor than this and productivity is equally as good. Really, you can do much better than this tomato variety."

"I grew great tomatoes in Maryland several years ago using Burpee Big Boy sets. So this year, when I started my new retirement raised garden in Tallahassee, I decided to give them another try and, being in the South, thought I'd try starting from seeds. However, I got a late start. I went ahead anyway and planted the seeds directly in the garden in May. By the end of July, the plants were seven feet tall and still growing! I'll never plant anything but Big Boys."

"Two plants on my back deck which I well watered and in lots of sun are 7 feet tall-have yellow flowers but no fruit yet. Don't know the problem, but hoping for the best."

"I bought these seeds last year, grew them in a container on my patio. Got lots of great tasting, huge tomatoes. The plant is still setting new fruit, this is a very hardy grower. Bought the seeds again this year and will try planting them in the ground this time. I'm looking forward to some more great tomatoes this summer."
