Very disappointed, October 1, 2009
Submitted by Aramis83 from Louisville, KY
"I had such high hopes for these as I have a very small space for gardening and only like cucumbers for pickling. Not to mention it had great reviews. I can honestly say this was the most disappointing cucumber variety I have ever planted. Out of 5 plants I got maybe 6 cucumbers the size of gherkins. Completely useless. I also had to fight the pests, as they seemed to love these more than my other varieties. I might try one or two in containers next year, but they're not getting valuable real estate in my actual garden. No disease though, that was the only reason I would give them 2 leaves instead of 1."

Good for eating and pickles, May 11, 2009
Submitted by bstnh1 from Southern New Hampshire
"I planted these for the first time in 2008. They performed well even though the weather here was cool and very wet and a disaster for most garden crops. They are a heavy yielder. I noticed some posters mentioned that the cukes were bitter. I believe that has to do with the growing method and conditions rather than the variety. I found them very good tasting when eating fresh and excellent for bread and butter pickles."

Good enough for a few rounds of pickles, February 19, 2009
Submitted by Finny from San Jose, CA
"I did multiple sowings of this variety over the course of the season when the first sowing was chewed by invisible bugs.

The second sowing produced one viable plant that actually went on to produce enough cukes for many rounds of pickles.

And the pickles were/are really good!

I'd recommend this seed but warn that keeping an eye out for bugs is a must as this didn't seem to be a very bug-tolerant variety.

Also, as plain salad cucumbers, these were a bit bitter - better as pickles."

Hope There Was a Blight, January 20, 2009
Submitted by GardenGirl88 from Twin Valley, MN
"I tried these for the first time last year and they didn't do much of anything. Out of 2 hills, I got 3 cukes. Talking with other gardeners in my area, I discovered they didn't have a good crop either.

I am willing to give these another try, though. I'm not one to give up easily, especially when I read the other reviews which gave such praise to these. I hope '09 is a better year for cukes up here."
