Great lower acid tomato, February 17, 2006

"This tomato quickly became a 'must have' for my garden. I would personally classify this as a medium size tomato.. perfect for an afternoon snack or a single tomato sandwich. I think it has the perfect amount of flesh to seeds, juicy, good 'shelf life', bugs didn't seem to bother them as much as the reds, and great flavor. If i had to recommend only 2 tomato plants, this would be 1 of the 2. Plus the color gives great contrast to your garden. Now a favorite of my mom, sisters, brother and friends. "

"I like fresh tomatoes. Unfortunately I have problems with acid reflux and was trying to find a tomato that I could enjoy that provided less acidity than the usual tomatoes you see. Last year I came across these delicious vibrant beauties on Burpee. They work good raw or cooked. I've made tomato sandwiches and put them in omelettes. This tomato is a regular from now on in my garden.

This year because of rainy cool weather it has taken a while for the tomatoes to ripen and I do think that they lack a bit of flavor this year as compared to last year. But, again, I believe that the weather is to blame for this. At least I am getting tomatoes thought and do not seem to be having the statewide problem of "late blight".

I have plenty of tomatoes on the plants waiting for me to pick them either when they are ready or when I am ready. (I picked some when they were still green but getting to the large size where they were in danger of splitting and I left them on the counter to ripen which worked fine.)

Overall, would recommend. Good taste, great color, and a benefit to those who may not be able to handle the more acidic varieties."

A great tomato for hot climates., July 16, 2009

"I have grown these tomatoes in FL and in the Mohave Desert in CA. They grow exceptionally well in the high heat (>100F) of both locations. The tomatoes are a nice size and don’t seem to be bothered by many pests. They make a great tomato sandwich; they don’t have the acidic taste that some tomatoes have, very sweet, and high flesh to seed ratio. I definitely recommend these for gardens in very hot climates."
