"The 3-3½"" rose-like flowers of this amazing plant are a real traffic stopper. The intensity of the flower color softens as the blooms mature, creating a most beautiful display in the garden or vase. The species of this hardy and versatile plant is native to the American Southwest. It is as home in the garden as it is in containers. Plants grow 18-22"" tall and should be grown in a loose, well-drained soil in full sun. Lisianthus tend to be narrow, upright plants and can be spaced 7-10"" apart. They look best-planted in-groups. This annual may act like a perennial in warmer climates.

Growing recommendation,

"I have grown these in the past, so I prepared for a large display this year. Knowing that this variety will flop over, I cut a section of fence wire with 2"x4" holes in it and bent it over so that both long sides were touching the ground and the hump in the center was 6-8" above the ground. They have easily grown through the wire and that stay nice and upright even through high wind. I planted them about 6" apart and the display is beautiful. I arrange alot of flowers and love these as they are long lasting. If length is desired, you can insert it in a flower tube. They are easy to grow, but if they decide to shrivel up, these is nothing you can do to save them, so don't let them dry out! Am entering one stem in the flower show today, and if I win, I'll pass on an image!"

"These plants arrived in beautiful condition, much better than plants I've received from other garden companies. They started blooming in late June, with big beautiful deep purple & white blooms. Many blooms on each plant, and they look exactly like roses. I have had no problem with pests or disease. The only thing that is a draw back is that the large heavy blossoms make the tall plants hang, so you need to stake the plants. They look best planted in close groups, as the plants are tall & narrow. They have bloomed from June to fall, are still in bloom now. Easy for beginners also!"

"I loved the way these flowers looked once they bloomed - absolutely stunning. However, they do not start blooming until quite late in the season (July). My only other complaint would be that due to their tall narrow growth, the blooms pull the plants to the ground. The blooms themselves are gorgeous and long lasting, but they look a bit of a mess as they are all laying on the ground now. They are best suited to a cutting garden with some type of support to hold up them up."

"I'm very new to gardening. I chose these flowers based on the "Garden Wizard" and I loved the pictures. Here it is June 20 and they still haven't bloomed after being planted in April. The flowers(plants) arrived in good condition and I followed directions, but still have lost three out of the group."
