Highly Recommend, June 22, 2008
Submitted by Katdal from southeast PA
"I highly recommend these Walls O' Water. this year I had more seedlings than walls, so some seedlings did not get the walls. When I planted them, the seedlings were all the same size. Two weeks later, the seedlings that were protected by the walls were 4 times as big! I found that the walls work better when I put them outside a tomato cage first, especially since some parts of my garden slant downhill. When I am ready to remove the walls, I take out the cages and the walls, empty the walls and replace the cages. This way it is only a one person job. I won't start my garden without them!"

Not just for cold protection, May 4, 2008
Submitted by Timothy from Southwest Oklahoma
"Wall-o-waters can allow for earlier planting as advertised, however, they serve their best purpose as a physical barrier and protector of plants. I would use them even if I planted after the last frost. Animals won't trample plants. Wind won't bother plants. I use them in conjunction with classic three ring metal stakes and burpee tomato cages and have never had a plant die for any reason prior to October. You'll want to use paper or mulch for weed prevention because you can't weed easily once the plant reaches a certain size."

You can cheat Mother Nature!, August 18, 2007
Submitted by Maruru from Long Island, NY
"These things are awesome - they allowed me to put my young plants outdoors about 6 weeks ahead of time (late March/early April, as opposed to mid-May). The plants became very robust, and by the time I removed the walls in May, they were already self-sufficient! If possible, try to fill up the water wall before you place it around the plant (this will require at least 2 people to properly lift and arrange). You will avoid overwatering/flooding your poor transplant this way if the chambers overflow while you're filling them. Also, these walls are free-standing once filled, just be sure to keep them level so you don't cause a collapse! On particularly cold, rainy, or snowy nights, I would pull a plastic grocery bag over the top of the water wall to help retain heat a little more and prevent too much precipitation from getting in. I love these things so much, I ordered 24 more for next year, for myself and to give away as gifts! I recommend them to anybody who doesn't have the time or patience to wait until the weather is perfect to set their plants outdoors!"

Awsome Product, April 18, 2007
Submitted by RBuck from Spring Valley, Ca
"We have used this product on a number of different plants and vegetables.

We started in Mid January in San Diego and now have tomato plants almost 6ft tall and already have tomatoes.

We also used it on the Peas in a pot and have had 3 large helpings of peas.

This is an awesome product, great for any vegetable plants."

Great Protection, February 16, 2007
Submitted by LIGardener from Long Island, NY
"I first used these when I container gardened on my deck when I lived in warren County NJ. I planted tomatoes I had started indoors and put them out in May protected by these teepees. Well, I never expected to get below freezing temps in May but I did and I thought my tomatoes bit the dust. For 2 weeks I worried as I peered in the top. When I finally took them off in June, all I had was a few moldy leaves at the bottom. I removed them and the plants went on to produce fruit."

really helpful, January 6, 2007

"these really protect your plants. in fact, i have cooked a few plants by forgetting to remove them when the weather warmed up a little. my plants are twice the size of my neighbor's. they can be a little tricky to stand up, but once they are filled they stand really well. for the reviewer above, the chambers are supposed to leak into one another. they are connected at the bottom."

Thanks for the Idea, May 14, 2006
Submitted by Tomatoe Girl from Phoenixville, PA
"A reviewer recommended placing seedling packs into the walls-of-water. Hum...no grow lights to set up, fungus to worry about, a kitten eating the leaves & it's March 10 and all my seeds germinated. This idea sounded good to me. Planted my tomatoe seeds-Brandywine, Sun Gold, Persimmon and germinated them in the furnace room starting March 2, then out to the walls-of water (green ones) with their first set of leaves, March 10 facing South. A few peat pots too with seeds only to see if they germinated in the walls enviorment. Figured if they all froze I had enough time to start over. SURPRISE: Direct seeding produced healthy, stocky plants & germinated in a week! The indoor germinated seedlings with only their first leaves did just as well despite snow, hail and frosty nights! Planted all deeply into raised beds April 10, surrounding each with a wall-of-water and they are out the top & it is Mothers Day! Maybe this year I won't have to wait till late August for a tomatoe! HINT: filled almost to the top with water & pushed out the bottoms so the tops tilted in and were almost closed. Now that they reached the top I will stand them straighter, opening them more & top off the water. Maybe it was luck that I didn't read the directions!"

"Though the chart says I'm in zone 6, I live in a microclimate that is much lower. I've had frost in the middle of june, july, and august. Wall-O-Water is my tomato savior. Wouldn't garden without them."

"i use a 5 gallon plastic bucket, turned upside down over the plant, put the wall of water around it, and fill them, very easy, a little radiator sealent poured into a leaking cylinder will fix any small leak, i have used them for years there great"

poor quality, April 14, 2006
Submitted by heard they were great from Mo. USA
"I purchased 9 water walls for my tomatoes. 1 water wall came apart when I tried to fill it. The rest I got set up, but it was very difficult. Then 3 days later 3 more came apart. Not counting on the rest staying together, but we will see. 4 out of 9 in less than a week is just poor quality. "

Love the wall o water, February 1, 2006
Submitted by rideagaitedhorse from IL
"These Wall O waters are a great help in growing my seedlings. Not only do I use them in the garden when Im ready to plant but I set them up on the south side of my house very early in the spring. When growing my seedlings in the seed and start kits I get them started in a window. I always had trouble with the plants getting spindly untill I started setting them outside along the house in the wall O water after they get second or 3rd set of real leaves. I just put the whole seed and start tray inside the wall o water and the plants do great ! No more spindly thin stems! Iv even had it snow on the wall o waters along the house and the plants did fine .When the plants are big enough I put them in peat pots and return them to the wall o waters untill its time to plant them in the garden. I had given up trying to grow my own tomato plants untill I discovered these wall O waters work as a mini green house for seedlings."
