"I've grown Burpee 'Wave' Petunias for several years. Last year I purchased a pack of 'Tidal Wave' and completely loved the end result. The plants were large and completely covered w/ ongoing blooms, even in WA maritime NW. Neighbors would come by just to check on these plants, they added such an impact.

I do suggest, for best display, consider using raised beds. If you plant taller flowers/ vegetables near plants, The Tidals will weave their way around other plants, with end result a fantastic massing of color, texture and very pleasing visual results.

I started seeds in my light stand w/ only seed starting medium and clear plastic cover over tray. After double leaves emerge, I transplant to individual 4" pots. Still under plant lights, I tip pruned as plants grew, to create many new branches. As plants got larger and tangled too easily, I moved pots to an outdoor east facing deck....slowly acclimated them, of course. I covered them at night, while weather still nippy. The earliest we can safely transplant tender plants in this area is Mother's Day. By then, I had quite stout, fully branched plants which acclimated very nicely in their raised garden beds. We use the "4X4 square foot gardening" technique w/ veggies and flower mixtures.

The only reason I gave Tidals only 4 leaves in overall rating is because they arrived in a tiny plastic tube, which was smashed. Only 2 seeds were viable, the rest were powder. The Wave petunias always come in flat packages.

I am reordering more Tidals this year, with hope of better results. I may sound like a fool, with only 2 useable seeds, but the end results were so tremendous, I'm willing to give it a try, again!

With the expectation of more than 2 plants, I plan to replant a couple in the 4x4 boxes. The rest I will distribute around landscape, placing them, where possible, on raised areas. I don't want to scare people away from flat areas, but my experience last year led me to feel the greatest visual pleasure will be realized if the plants have a little height as well as some degree of vertical 'fall' .

Burpee, you really have a winner with the Tidal Waves!"
