"I had a freind, who's friend purchased the seed your Burpee 3 years ago she gave me a couple rootings, and I planted them-Despite the fact that this is a introduction to gardening, For everything you want to grow the "Spider Flower" is just the masterpiece you could create, This beautiful garden of flowers are prize winning, the best show a gardener's bed could ever grow, these flowers will grow either in the sun or shade,in groups of flowers and height in summer .These flowers like well-drained,fertile,organic soil. They are hardiness in zone 6-9, The mature size in width is 24inches and tall they develop any where from on to five feet in height. The spider flower will spice up any garden bed with delightfully bizarre flowers bursting from tall stems lined with stiff, smelly, sticky leaves, especially in the grand old Queen cleomes.Perhaps because of its distinctive aroma and furry foliage, spider flower used to be a "love" it or hate it plant. They are not hard to grow, but will be stunted by prolonged droughts, so they are perfect candidates for planting along a soaker hose.Plant spider flowers in soil amended as needed to enrich it and improve its drainage. Dig the hole a bit larger than the root ball, and if the roots are tightly wound, tear them slightly before planting. Watering deeply once a week or more often in hot, dry weather will sustain plants and flowers: use fertilizer through the season if needed. Potential problems: no pest: if they reseed to excess, remove seedpods before they open and keep the plants mulched."
