incredible sampler, from a first time gardener, September 4, 2009

"all four of these plants are amazing. this summer is my first gardening, and these four are delicious and resilient. living in NYC, we had a horrible June and i'm forced to grow these tomatoes raised-bed style (they each have their own 5-gallon buckets). Still, i have the biggest crop of anyone i know, and to date i've canned about 6 quarts of sauce from the big mama and health kick plants (and still have a ton ripening on the vine). the burger tomato is rich and each tomato is huge. the 4th of july have TONS of tomatoes growing on them. they grow just a bit bigger than cherry tomatoes and I eat them as such. can't wait to grow these again next year, they're huge and such a great starter pack."

"This was my first purchase from Burpee. My tomato plants have grown well over eight feet tall and I have already harvested about thirty pounds of tomatoes. The tomatoes are perfect. I will order all of my vegetable plants through Burpee for ever."

Tomato Results, March 1, 2008

"Highly recommend all 4 types.
Consider taking the staking and caging seriously rather than an after thought. Each loaded plant can weigh over a 100 lbs.
Don't water the leaves, they will develop a fungus and the leaves will turn brown.
They are very sensitive to direct sunlight when first transplanted, cover them with something.
Water them with warm water in the spring, cold water will stunt their growth."

"I decided to get this mix last year to try different kinds and was disappointed. I did not feel the 4th of July tomatoes had much flavor. The two plum types were a little better and the burger hybrid was the best tasting of the bunch, but I didn't get that many off the plant."
