"80 days. Our favorite super size tomato - most fruits weigh 2 lbs. Original ""beefsteak"" flavor and meaty texture. Burpee bred. Indeterminate Sorry, state laws prohibit shipping plants to Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona, California, Nevada. Plants ship in spring at proper planting time. ( click here for shipping schedule ) "

Supersteak Tomatoes,
March 16, 2006 Submitted byTomato lover from Hawesville, Ky
"In 50 years of gardening, this is our alltime favorite tomato. The texture, flavor and size cannot be equaled. Many tomatoes cause me problems because of excess acidity. Not supersteak, but it has true tomato flavor.I cannot find plants locally but they are worth growing. "

Tomato - Tomaato, It's all good eating!,
September 30, 2007 Submitted byHelen from Philadelphia, PA.
"I am a Container Gardener. As the summer progresses my deck becomes a vegetable jungle. Among other veggies, I purchased the 3-plant set of Supersteak Tomatoes -instead of seeds. The plants arrived in excellent condition. In May, the plants looked so little in their large containers with big tomato cages surrounding them. It's amazing by mid-August how huge the plants have grown literally hiding the tomato cage from sight. The flavor of the tomato is delicious. They make great tomato sandwiches! Most of the fruit grew as large as described in the catalog."

"These have got to be the tallest biggest tomato plants I have EVER seen! The tomatos are HUGE and the plants seem like something out of Jack and the Beanstalk! Oh yeah...they taste GREAT! This is my father standing next to one of 8 plants I put down that are OVER 6' tall...my only dilemna...how to stake them..."

"I got a plant as part of the Heirloom collection. The plant itself was healthy, and in great shape. It shot up immediately, and grew to a good height. Unfortunately, of all my heirloom beefsteaks, it took the longest to grown the fruits and ripen -- in the first week of October, I pulled all the tomatoes (still green) and had to ripen them inside. The tomatoes that ripened were big and beautiful, and tasted absolutely delicious. But it was too depressing to not get a single vine-ripened one -- I guess I just don't have a long enough growing season for this one. Too bad, because other than that, it's great."

"I have used this tomato for the last 12 years ... different soil conditions ... seasons when I could give it maximum care and times when I could not. My very favorite tomato for yield and flavor. Wonderful flavor when sliced for burgers or cut up for salads ... but retains its flavor when cooked in sauces for the freezer.
The only problem I have is that our local seed suppliers don't carry it as seed and I never find it as started plants. Guess I'll just have to continue starting from seed every year. Worth it! (Don't tell Burpee but the seed has such viability that I only buy a fresh packet every 2-3 years.)"
