"Hybrid Cantaloupe. 86 days. Our top-selling cantaloupe for over 20 years because it tastes so very good, luscious, extra-sweet, and juicy with a delectable aroma. Thick, firm, flesh is delicious right down to the rind. The 6"" melons average 5 lbs. each. Vines are resistant to powdery mildew and yield bumper crops. Burpee Bred. Sun."

"Great tasting melons, however, the plants died prior to melons being ripe (this may be due to the wet summer we have had). The few that have ripened are excellent."

best cantelope ever,
September 6, 2008 Submitted bybeeman from Woodland
"If you can find a better cantelope than ambrosia, let me know. For size, taste, vigor, and being prolific, you can't beat this melon. I keep trying four to five different melons each year trying to find one better than Ambrosia, but haven't found one yet."

Great Cantaloupe,
April 19, 2008 Submitted bybatch from Solana Beach, CA
"This is the best performing cantaloupe we have found in the last 20 years for our cool long season coastal Southern California location. It has been a consistant performer for the last 15 years and has the best flavor and yield of all we have tried. We usually get a second and sometimes third flush of melons into October."

Sweet as Candy,
December 30, 2007 Submitted byPrairiegrower from east-central KS
"I grew this for the first time last year. It was very productive. Easy to grow, nothing seems to bother it, it just keeps growing. Takes the Kansas heat and wind very well. You won't believe how good this melon tastes."

"These canteloupes are so good! They appear to be disease resistant--the leaves continue to look very healthy and new melons appear daily. I work to improve my soil every year and the soil is very good. I use soaker hoses to avoid excess water on the leaves and fruit. I knew the vines would take a lot of space, but they took more than I thought. They are worth making room for!! It is very easy to tell when they are ripe. A little pressure on the stem and the melon comes right off. They smell great and taste even better. We will grow these next year! I'm still looking for just the right watermelon to grow in Virginia in a medium sized garden."

"I use the "cheater's method" of simply dumping a couple of bags of composted manure plus one of topsoil onto the lawn. Works well. Strong, healthy plants. REALLY tasty fruit. Seems almost fool-proof."

"I have been growing this variety for four years now and it has never disapointed me. It consistantly produces 4 or 5 lbs melons that are very uniform. After eating one of these you'll never want to buy a store bought canteloupe again. The plant produces large healthy looking leaves and vines. The melons do not mature at the same time but they all end up being close to the same size. These melons like other melons appreciate well worked soil with plenty of organic matter and a layer of manure about 10" down. Ambrosia canteloupes are fruit of the gods."
