Excellent Product!, September 11, 2008
Submitted by lmh2006 from Southeastern PA
"We had built our own raised bed system several years ago, but found ourselves aesthetically displeased with the weathering of the wood. We bought this system in its place and we couldn't be happier. I truly think our garden has improved and it is entirely no maintenance so there is no weathering and no wood to change out. We have also expanded our garden and this made it a snap to do."

Very handy, July 26, 2008
Submitted by tarnee19 from Hamilton, NJ
"We purchased this raised bed a few months back and its been very handy to us, we got the 4' x 8' Complete Raised Garden (Double Level) but instead of stacking it one over the other, we had it side by side so we have a big bed now. My husband put this bed together and it was not that hard for him. I am growing all my herbs and veges in this bed now after putting about 25 sacs of soil in it and my plants are growing very nice on it. Its in a location right in front of my morning room, where we sit and relax and enjoy the view of our raised bed. Its beautiful."

Best Idea, July 5, 2008
Submitted by Longislandveggie from Long Island NY
"After going to home improvement stores and trying to find something like this , I ordered online.
I put the bed together by myself yesterday and today put in the soil.
I will probably buy another kit next year and expand the veggie garden I started this year.
Easy and convienient.
I am also thinking about ordering some to frame my perennial garden."

Works great!, October 20, 2007
Submitted by pookie from Historic Valley Forge, PA
"This is a great product. I only ordered one kit, but I am certainly going to order more. I just put mine together with my 13 year old son, and it was a breeze. We had lots of rain last night, so it was very easy to get the corners into the soil. We filled it with compost, chopped leaves, manure, and top soil. I think this is a great raised bed frame. We plan to plant onions and garlic in this one, and will be putting more of these in the veggie garden within the next few weeks. Buy one and see for yourself."

Great product!, June 4, 2007
Submitted by Katie
"These product is just wonderful. My husband, who is hard to impress, thought the quality was superb. He was able to build the planter (with coaching from me, of course :) in about an hour.
Since I wasn't sure how it would all work, and if it would be of high quality, I only bought enough for one planter, but now I'm going to buy enough to really expand my garden.
Thank you, Burpee!"

"To answer another reviewer, yes, the rough cedar boards are wider by about a 1/4 inch. You have to get the smoothed out cedar 2x6 for decking. I suggest taking the hinge with you to make sure it fits.

This systems works great! I bought my own, really nice, cedar 2x6x8 from Lowes - the decking board. The ends fit perfect and the finish looks very professional. I just wish I had less rock and more dirt in my yard!"

Does not fit 2" x 6" rough cedar!!!, January 31, 2007
Submitted by kimyo
"After reading the description and the reviews, I was so excited to try out this product! I bought 12 rough cedar boards, sanded them smooth, and put on an oil finish to protect them. When I tried to put the first board into the corner joint, it would not fit. I tried the other pieces and the other joints and none of them fit. The wood is nearly 1/4" too thick! In the description, the manufacturer says that you can use composite timbers or any standard 2" x 6" lumber. Maybe rough cedar isn't standard?"

Easy and convenient! No regrets!!!!, September 23, 2006
Submitted by Nicole from Spring, TX
"I LOVE this product! I have a small back yard which is used by my entire family and dog. Therefore, I like having an area set apart from the rest of the yard in which I can garden. This system is SO easy to put together, and it looks great! I'm not a very good construction person, but I found the assembly instructions were easy to follow, and all I needed was a screwdriver and a mallot (I used my husband's drill just to make assembly go a little faster). I also ordered the wood composite because it is supposed to be virtually maintenance free. So far, I like its appearance, and it is very sturdy. I highly recommend this to anyone considering a raised garden!"

The benefits of raised bed gardening, September 15, 2006
Submitted by Diane from Warner, N.H.
"I give classes in herb and vegetable gardening in small spaces. Also gardening for those with impaired mobility. Our outdoor classroom has a variety of multi-level raised beds designed from no-rot resin material.

I wish I had seen the Burpee system sooner! The corner hardware and stackable joints would have made life easier.

This is a great idea and I will pass it on to my students. Happy gardening everyone!"

All that was promised, August 2, 2006

"The system is excellent. Assembly was a breeze. I added another tier of timber as well. There is a slight bowing at the joint on one side but we are on very rocky soil and that pier is a little unstable. Looks like it should last for years."

Great product., June 2, 2006
Submitted by Home Gardener from Baltimore suburb
"While I did not buy the corner pieces at Burpee, the ones I have are the same product Burpee sells. I created a 10'x16' vegetable garden 4 years ago with pressurized wood and the corner pieces are holding up great. With 4 years of compost and mulch added every year to my garden, I'm planning on adding a second level and replacing the pressure treated wood with the recycled platic composit boards. I can do this with the Burpee system. I highly recommend it!"

"I like these products. I have used both natural timber and the plastic sides. They are convenient and easy. The only downside is that in winter the plastic corners become brittle and can break if hit hard."

"My husband and I just installed a two layer raised garden and this couldn't have been easier. We are so pleased with the results that I am ordering more. We bought our own wood at the local store in 2x6x8' lenghts. The soil in PA is all clay so this was the perfect solution for us.The garden looks great. "
