Must try!, January 22, 2009

"I've grown purple bush beans for years, now that I have a more limited space I wanted to see how the pole bean variety would do in a tub growing up Burpee's bean tower . . . One word: "Awesome!" Beans were prolific, flavorful, and produced till hard frost. For those with limited space, you too can have tasty beans as often as you want without the big garden!"

"I first decided to try these beans as I noticed insects weren't interested in the color of the leaves of purple bean plants. In that regard they are excellent. They are very vigorous, hardy, and tasty bean. I highly recommend."

"Very heavy yield right up until frost here in zone 5. Even in my heavy clay laden soil they germinated and thrived with but a bit of weeding and watering. The taste is about as good as any snap bean i've grown and the purple pods are definitely a novelty. I had grown purple peacock for years and am hard pressed to tell these apart but whereas the peacock seeds have been a crapshoot these all germinated and the pods were stringless as they were supposed to be :-) Burpee ROCKS !!!"
