Hearty Producer, but not grapey.,
April 18, 2009
Submitted by 7im8
from Fountain Hills
"Like the rest, this variety was a hearty grower, more disease resistant than others, and heavy producer for me too. But as others noted, the "unique" coloring made it hard to judge ripeness. Good flavor, doesn't split, but I like the Super Sweets flavor better.
No grape flavor, warm or cold."

Great Product,
March 10, 2009
Submitted by moondogi

"I have been ordering from Burpee since I was 9 years old, and the Black Pearl is by far the most successful tomato that I have purchased. Very prolific, easy to germinate, quality fruits that are delicious and are appealing to the eye in salads, salsa, bruschetta and add a great flair to homemade tomato soup."

Not all its said to be,
January 7, 2009
Submitted by Frog
from SC
"This tomato does not taste like Concord grape when refrigerated. So if thats what you are buying it for, you may want to think again. However, if are just looking for a great cherry tomato this one is a good pick. The vines produced heavily and kept producing. The tomatoes were a nice big size."

Prolific but tasteless,
March 24, 2008
Submitted by kaivy
from Carencro, LA
"You would be happy with this variety if you wanted a prolific plant. This plant has a tremendous yield. The plants got to 6 feet tall with thin stalks. My problem is that I do like a tough skin such as this one produces. This plant has zero taste. I will not purchase this again."
